A hack occurred between February and June 2018 in which the personal and financial details of Ticketmaster customers were stolen by cyber criminals. The information stolen by the hackers was all information that, in the wrong hands, could be misused for fraudulent purposes and included the following:
The breach would have affected customers of the ticketing website who bought tickets through Ticketmaster UK, GETMEIN! and Ticketweb. Some international customers may have been affected between September 2017 and June 23 2018.
Ticketmaster blamed the data breach on a hack carried out using malware that targeted a third-party chatbot customer support system, managed by partner Inbenta Technologies, that they had been using on their payment pages. Even when they were alerted to a potential problem after being informed about fraudulent transactions on customer credit cards, the company initially failed to identify the problem.

If you are one of the 40,000 Ticketmaster UK customers who have been affected by the data breach then you are entitled to make a claim for compensation. Anyone whose personal data was part of the hack should have been notified by an email from Ticketmaster back in 2018..
We can put you in touch with expert data breach solicitors who are putting together a collective group claim that will bring together the large number of Ticketmaster customers. If you bought tickets between February and June 2018, it is possible that you have been affected by the data breach, even if you didn’t receive or didn’t see any notification at the time, so it is still worth getting in touch with us.
Compensation is payable, not only for any specific financial or other losses you have incurred, but also for any distress caused by the data breach which could have left you open to the risk of fraudulent activity.

We use dedicated data breach solicitors who have handled thousands of data breach claims
Customers have the right to expect that any personal or financial data that they have shared with an organisation, such as Ticketmaster, is securely stored and handled. When data protection standards have fallen short, and in this case a hack has enabled unauthorised access to your personal data, you can make a claim for compensation.
Bringing a data breach claim not only gets you access to compensation, but also holds a company or organisation to account for their actions. As a result this will usually prompt them to take the necessary steps to boost their data security measures to ensure that such a breach cannot occur again.
An ICO investigation found that Ticketmaster’s inclusion of the chat-bot on its online payment page was responsible for allowing attackers access to customers’ financial details. The ICO fined Ticketmaster UK £1.25 million and blamed the company for failing to assess the risks of using a chat-bot on its payment page, not implementing appropriate security measures to negate the risks, and failing to identify the source of suggested fraudulent activity in a timely manner.
